The
Hôtel de Ville.
The Place de l'Hotel-de-Ville, formely the Place de Grève, with
the Hôtel-de-Ville, is reached by way of Avenue Victoria. The old
Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall), built during the reign of Francois Ist
and Henri IV, was burnt down by the Federates in 1871.
It was rebuilt in the Renaissance style by Ballu and Deperthes, who took
their inspiration from the previous edifice, and is richly decorated with
numerous works of art, paintings and statues
