 The
Colonne Vendôme.
The Colonne Vendôme, was erected in 1810 in the centre of the Place
Vendôme, a magnificent example of the architectural achievements
of days of Louis XIV. She is made of bronze from 1.200 guns captured by
Napoléon.
A statue of the Emperor stands on the top of the Colonne, and the bas-reliefs
commemorate the 1805 campaign.
On the other sideo f the Place Vendôme, opposite the Rue de la
Paix, the Rue de Castiglione with styly arcades on both sides, meets the
Rue de Rivoli, with its famous arcades, at right angles.
